For the past 20 years, Jane Clothier has provided bodywork services for horses, first in England and then in Australia.
She started writing her blog, The Horse’s Back in 2013 to provide a practical resource for her clients in New South Wales. One of her first posts was the article, The Disturbing Truth About Neck Threadworms and your Itchy Horse, which rapidly went viral and attracted worldwide readership.
In 2019, having researched at CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, she was awarded her PhD by the University of New England for her thesis on the ongoing developmental issues presented by horses that were premature or dysmature at birth.
Next came a Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Acupuncture from the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies. In 2025, she recorded a podcast interview with CIVT (posted below).
Jane is grateful to have met Dr Sharon May-Davis soon after arriving in Australia, and having had the opportunity to learn so much from her directly, as well as through organising clinics and dissection workshops.
Now based in the Tamworth region of New South Wales, Australia, Jane continues to run her practice, Equine Healthworks. She is currently working on her next publication.
